INROSES / COTACACHI

Flowers For Flower Growers was an excellent tool to raise our workers consciousness. Thanks Flowers For Kids® for what you are doing!
Diego Solano, Human Resources Manager – Cotacachi, Flower Grower, Inroses

On October 28th, Flowers For Kids® visited the Inroses Farm in Cotacachi and performed the “Flowers For Flower Growers” Second part presentation for its 84 flower growers.

Arthur Evans, Officer of the US Embassy in Quito accompanies Flowers For Kids® to its visits and presentations in the sponsor farms. Some of his comments about the flower industry in Ecuador:

Ecuador’s flower industry remains one of the key industries in Ecuador benefiting from the U.S. Andean Trade Promotion and Drug Eradication Act (ATPDEA). In 2008, cut flowers were the second largest Ecuadorian export to the United States under ATPDEA and were valued at $133 million.  The tens of thousands of jobs supported in both Ecuador and the United States by Ecuador’s ATPDEA flower exports -- in cultivation, transportation, marketing and retail -- are a testament to the mutually beneficial result that is possible in the U.S.- Ecuador bilateral commercial relationship.

The U.S. Embassy’s Economic Section contributes to Flowers for Kids classes because they emphasize the important role flower workers play in this relationship.  This is especially important in Ecuador, where many workers have realized a higher standard of living due to the ATPDEA-led growth of flower exports.
