Si, BFG...found the movie at blockbusters and watched it last night---uncertain if I like it or not---I think I understand the parody and the irony of movie making, passion and the adaptation processes for us all, but...I think I missed the elusive romance with the orchid that all the characters in the book expressed.  I think the book focused on the orchid like a Persephone, the mermaids and at times like a Medusa without the flowers saying a word over the course of history and that facsinated me.  Throw in those crazy Floridians and..."Fear and Loathing in the Fakahatchee"?  That, I loved....lol....

Hey, rap...that reminds me...I once saw the works of an artist that made life-like faces out of tofu...hen desu ne... Carl Hiaasen was mentioned in the book reviews, I'll make sure to check out your recommendations.

P.S.----Ok, Harley...you keep the tails and I'll take the rest of the gator....size 7, by the way......

That's it.....I think I would have loved the movie if Benicio del Toro played the lead, his way.

While waiting in line at the grocery store.......check out the July issue of Vogue!

Page 179---Florals from Robert Isabell for the MOMA "Goddess" Costume Institute exhibit.  Simple but very sophisticated (imagine the scent of 4,000 peonies and fruit blossum branches---apple?)

Pages 185-189---Garden style bouquets from shops across the nation---love those succulents...

Oh, and Page 140---The Louis Vuitton blue-violet croc bag!   Grin

Looks like maybe I have found a book that will combine the desires of those of us who actually read and those of us who just watch porno-

The Botany of Desire

by Michael Pollan

supposed to be good, haven't read it yet

For those of you that missed the first showing of Cirque de Soleil "Varekai", Bravo will show it again Wednesday night....I think at 8:00pm.

Cirque de Soleil is a Canadian-French adaptation of the traditional circus, excluding the animals, but exquisite in it's intrepretation of the trapeze, jugglers and contortionists, and dancers,  just to name a few acts.  "Varekai--The Fire Within" is a story of Icarus falling from the sky and being helped by the creatures of the forrest to his rise.

While being unrelated to flowers, the show rates incredibly high on the inspirational level---everything is beautiful---acts, costumes, music and set design.  The comedy act is kind of hokey for this show, but everything else more than compensates.  Hope you enjoy it!

They really did a great job on the show---nothing like seeing it live, I bet, but commercials were minimal and far between (perfect for dashing off for ice cream, etc.).  They also had a reality based show for months leading up to the first showing of "Varekai" on TV.

I'm impressed, Harley---so nice that you like stuff like that.  See?  Props to BFG for starting this thread---we find out neat things about each other.

This is great you mean I can confess that I am a gay transvestite, Lesbian loving, transsexual with a tendency toward homophobia, married with children, seeking a new opportunity to explore my sexuality!

Wow I feel better now.

When I saw you at lunch I saw a change, I just couldn't figure out what it was. Thanks for clearing it up.
