In trials all over the world new varieties are compared with each other and with the current assortment. Or they are announced Best of Show and awarded with gold, silver and bronze medals on different (international) trade fairs. Unfortunately only national trade magazines of news portals pay editorial attention to these price winning novelties. The news is not sufficiently spread across the borders. Shouldn’t it be great to gather all that worldwide information on one site? We made a beginning with that on www.newplantsandflowers.com
. The section Best & Awarded includes a list with new varieties that stood out on trails or trade fairs. As said, it is only the beginning, as there are much more. Is one of your price winning varieties missing, or are you aware of other missing varieties, then you might mail us with the relevant information.
Next step will be an extended list of trials from all over the world, showing which plants (annuals, perennials, pot plants, cut flowers, woody plants etc.) are judged and when the news about the outcomes will be published. We see it as a challenge to make such a list.
An award is no guarantee for success. But especially when a variety is awarded more than once (even in different continents), it underscores the outstanding qualities. The list might inspire when a new crop has to be chosen, or the wholesale or retail is looking for new eye-catchers.
